Certificate in Studio Arts
Bishop's University, through Continuing Education,
offers the Certificate in Studio Arts programme in St.
Lambert . Ten courses of 3 credits each are required
to complete the certificate: two in art history, and eight in
studio arts (drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, fiber art,
etc.). Three-hour classes in studio art and in art history are
offered once a week for twelve weeks. This programme offers an
introduction to art to anyone interested in developing their artistic
skills, and their appreciation of art. It is of particular interest
to adults who want to develop their creativity and increase their
enjoyment of life.

FIN 182 – PHOTOGRAPHY I ---- new:

The basics of photography: exposure, speed, light, composition.
Introduction to black and white photography .

FIN 181 – SCULPTURE I
Instructor : Mona Godbout
Introduction to a study of three traditional sculptural languages
and techniques: the glyptic (subtraction by carving), the plastic
(substitution by casting), and the linear (addition by assemblage)
by using plaster, clay, cement, wire.

FIN 160 – DRAWING I
Instructor : Micheline Durocher
This introductory course will develop skills of visual observation
and will focus on the basic principles and concepts of drawing,
composition and the elements of form. Students will work with
a variety of mediums and subjects, including the human form.

Students over 21 years old and born in Quebec are
required to present a copy of birth certificate
issued by the Directeur de l'État civil
du Québec with the admission form. For
those born outside Quebec, the government requires a Canadian
citizenship certificate AND a proof of residence in Quebec for
the last twelve months.
